Welcome to the new home of the Light Green Machine Institute newsletters.

We are finally moving here after many fits and starts.

Some things have not changed–we are still looking for volunteers to round out our three active committees.  You can find those committees elsewhere on this site, but to repeat:

Width v Speed Optimization

When setting design parameters for a new machine, the width of the machine (in multiples of widths of downstream converting and printing equipment) versus the speed of the machine is such a complex question that it has never been solved using engineering and mathematical principles.  Superadminstrator:   Jim Thompson  jthompson@taii.com

Water Usage

Open water usage is a legacy from the past that many mills still embrace to a certain extent.  Progress has been made, but without a thorough understanding of the dynamics involved, including not only dirt but also conductivity and other issues, mills become discouraged and revert to old ways.  Superadministrator:  Jim Kicklighter   jimkicklighter@icloud.com

Energy Optimization

Despite fifty years of focus (first energy crisis, October 1973), mills continue to need to drive energy costs lower.  This encompasses the producers (boilers, turbines and other energy generation devices and sources) and consumers (water, air and fiber).  In the circularity experienced in the mill, much energy is spilled (wasted).  Superadministrator:  Andy Chorney  andy.chorney@essity.com

You will need to become a member of the Light Green Machine Institute ($25/year) and accepted by the committee.  Contact the appropriate Superadministrator to join.

We are still putting on an extraordinary effort to fill our project committees above.

But we need other folks, too, if our working committees are not to your talents, we still have a place for you. We need members to update the contents of our website, www.lightgreenmachine.institute, keep up with membership and many other tasks.

Want to get involved? We have a place for you.

Please respond!

Don’t make us call you!

If you didn’t get a letter, don’t feel left out. Reach out to us and we will be happy to bring you on board!

You can help us by volunteering now! Please contact one of the members of the Executive Committee. They are:

Gary Rudemiller, Ph.D., President 859-325-5323 lgmigary@gmail.com

Jeff Smith, Vice President 770-330-8613 jeffao954@gmail.com

Jim Thompson, Founder 404-822-3412 jthompson@taii.com

Or go to www.lightgreenmachine.institute join today!

Thanks!
